Treasure Coast Psychiatry is a provider of comprehensive evaluations and treatment of life’s trajectories for children, adolescents, and adults. We treat not only the biological problems, but help develop a relationship based upon respect in a caring environment.
A good diagnosis can never be made in a small window in time, but rather a good diagnosis is made looking back over a few years, as psychiatric disorders have many moving parts. It is also necessary to understand that the difficulties in functioning co-occur with other disorders. It takes a well trained M.D. Psychiatrist with many years of training to identify multiple problems.
Treasure Coast Psychiatry believes that psychiatry is integral to general medicine, and as such we would seek to work closely with you primary care provider and relevant specialties such as neurology, endocrinology, and sports medicine, to help ensure the best outcome.
We adhere to the diagnostic criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). When medications are recommended, we seek to provide enrichment in psychological and interpersonal skills as well.
Some disorders require maintenance medications and other disorders may benefit from time-limited use of medications. We are conservative in our use of medication and utilize other methods of treatment such as talk therapy and TMS Transcranial magnetic Stimulation. This a magnet that treats the part of the brain causing the problem.
We understand the importance of open communication and collaboration. Dr. Velazquez and his team are committed to building strong relationships with our patients and their families, fostering trust and understanding throughout the treatment process.
